February 19, 2015, just 5 days after Samantha's 6th birthday, she was diagnosed with localized Ewing's sarcoma—a form of bone cancer in her right fibula. Sam under went 10 months of intense chemotherapy and reconstructive surgery of her right leg. She received blood weekly and sometimes daily. She spent countless nights in the hospital and she always did it with a smile. The days were long and hard but we are happy and so blessed to say Sam is 6 months cancer free! Sam and her mom Heather are heroes of mine and so I asked them to help me select items to put in this crate for families during long hospital stays, they chose:
- a stuffed puppy to snuggle your little one through surgeries, tests, etc. Sam picked out this puppy because it looks like her dog Pink, who she received when she was diagnosed.
- a Rifle Paper Company journal to try and keep you thoughts straight
- LulaRoe leggings (from SHOP LulaRoe Corissa) for you to stay comfy when snuggling your sweet baby and staying overnight in the hospital
- UNO to pass the time (nurses are really good at letting your kiddo win!)
$5 from each crate is donated to Primary Children's Medical Center to help other families who are going through this unimaginable experience.
